When setting up your password, or changing your password for login access to Brightmetrics you may wonder what the requirements are, we'll list those here below. We'll also discuss getting locked out and inactivity.
*Note* If you need to change your password, it's important to first make sure all other browsers, browser windows, or browser tabs open to Brightmetrics are closed, otherwise the periodic data refresh will still be using the old credentials and will lock you out.
Password, Lockout & SSO:
- There are no requirements on password history, maximum password age, or complexity.
- The minimum password length is 8 characters.
- If entered incorrectly, lockout durations are 5 minutes after 5 failed attempts, 1 hour after 10 failed attempts, and after 15 failed attempts, it's locked out until you reset your password. MFA is not available through the Brightmetrics portal itself.
- Accounts with the Enterprise module enabled or built into their subscription can enable SSO. In that case, your identity provider manages password requirements. If you are unsure if SSO is part of your subscription package, you can contact Brightmetrics Support for more information.
Inactivity:
- Inactivity is defined as having no request from the browser, and times out at 20 minutes.
- If a dashboard is being viewed, the data refresh rate is at every 5 minutes so it's keeping the session alive. However new data for summary dashboards would only be available every hour.
