Brightmetrics periodically updates the agent with bug fixes and performance improvements, so it is important to stay up to date. The Brightmetrics agent service normally updates itself automatically. If automatic updates have been disabled — for example by disabling the BrightmetricsUpdater service — you can install the latest version manually using the steps below.
Check your agent version before updating. If your agent is v2, you will need to uninstall it and then reinstall to get v3.

Click on the Data Source Configuration icon. -

Click on the Agent tab. -

Review the Agent Version for all agents.
Updating your agent to the latest version
Download the installer using the link below and follow the instructions on the page:
To keep the agent up to date automatically, ensure the following:
- The BrightmetricsUpdater service is installed, enabled, and running.
- The updater and the agent have full connectivity to Brightmetrics servers (see our article on what internet access the agent needs).
- No content filter is blocking downloads of the update installer.
- Anti-virus software is not preventing the BrightmetricsUpdater service from launching the update installer.
